You Glow In The Dark - Dustin Vado
You glow in the dark
Like clean Nikes
Squeaking against
Booze washed dancefloor,
Like fluorescent
Jellies,
Ultraviolet,
Hardly unseen
Like the gloworm
Etching its color
Deep in memory planks
Like commandments,
Or forget me nots
Without the poison title
Of scorpion grass;
Prey of the Nazerene
And muse of
Confinement,
Hope of the lonely,
Inspiration for stars
And similar presets.
You glow in the dark
Corners of my heart
And paint the steps
Of thistle dreams
In morning dew
Falling from my lashes
In droplets
Of every parting
Heartbreak
That may only last days,
Or hours…
You glow in the dark
And mean the light to me -
Same as it does
To forget me nots,
Cars and lots,
Pistles and red necks,
Roses and camels,
Caper and sway.
Dancing with shadows
Is like lighting
A fire with butter
For hands,
And catching
Butterflies in thimbles,
Or asking you to stay
When there is no time.
You glow in the dark
Caves, home only to bats
That come out at night
And use no light
Wailing to the walls
For a bit of themselves
To direct their flight,
Echo verse crushed
By green eyes,
The string to the kite.
