Back Roads V - Dustin Vado

Melting candles in gridlock
On the way to the head shop

Today was broken as soon as it started
Waking to the harsh face of summer

Drained by nothing,
I cook an egg on my thigh

The favorite pastime of traffic
Reveling in the choice of main streets

This must be what it's like
To run the gamut from vein to heart

Like canoeing from mouth to drop,
A common thread with the head shop boys

The five minute drive took fifteen
Stuck in the pace of the heat

Wild future boiled off the hood
There and gone in waving vapor

Melding with the other diesel daydreams
Shot into the vein without asking

Get away before skin becomes blacktop
And the car gets ready for bed

Seek shelter and burn out
The gaze of the sun

I can only dream of shade -
Respite breezeway from the smell of eggs.
